The Cageliner

I've been at Burke since 6th grade, and I've been on The Cageliner the whole time (minus the week and a half before Club Expo in 2014). I've written on a very wide variety of topics, I have a special love for good old-fashioned news writing. There's nothing quite like the rush I get when first I hear about something that I know will be a big story, and the wheels of the news cycle start spinning in my head. For that reason, my absolute favorite article was the one I wrote last spring about the unusual results of the SGA election. Texting, emailing, and talking on the phone with different people involved, really just trying to figure out what exactly had happened, was the most I had ever felt like a real investigative reporter.

The process of planning, researching, and writing an article brings me so much joy, and so I started taking on editorial responsibilities in 10th grade so I could help others achieve the same feeling. Being an editor (and later editor-in-chief) was a whole new ballgame, but I still am incredibly proud of every article the paper puts out, and I'll be incredibly sad to leave it at the end of this year.
